Working On Shoe Tying, Try These Tips

  1. Attach pipe cleaners to the shoes for practice—it makes the ‘laces’ stiffer and that way if a loop is dropped it doesn’t just fall and make you start over.

  2. Use two different color laces—you can cut 2 different color laces to attach together or color one side with a sharpie. This helps you to cue your child easier (ex. pinch the yellow one, wrap the blue one around, etc).

  3. Flat laces are easier than round laces—they slip less when trying to tie.

  4. Make sure laces aren’t too short or long!

  5. Practice, practice, practice!
