Reaching Each Motor Milestone Matters!

The order at which your child develops motor milestones matters as each one builds on the skill prior. Each skill is important for developing specific muscles and movement strategies and each milestone should be met (please don’t skip crawling!!!). Standing and walking is a highly anticipated and exciting skill, however, placing your child in standing positions before they are ready can hinder their ability to crawl (which is extremely important!!) because they have been exposed to weight bearing in standing positions and won’t identify the need or purpose to crawl. Each of these skills can take time to develop and can be further broken down into more steps so be patient with your child!
